Scroll DownAs part of a new project to support midwives, student midwives and maternity support workers to develop skills in baby communication, we will be awarding 6 midwives the opportunity to train and certify in the Newborn Behavioural Observations.
The places will be fully funded by the Brazelton Centre UK* and we will work together with the 6 successful candidates to follow their journey through the training process and certification into the implementation of the NBO with families.
Our aim is for more parents to have access to support and information about their newborn baby’s communication antenatally and in the first days after birth. We want to help midwives and maternity assistants to feel confident and equipped to support the parent-infant relationship through sharing with parents how their baby uses his/her behaviour to communicate how they are feeling, what they need and what they like and dislike.
Please see our entry requirements below:
- You must be a Midwife, Maternity Support Worker, Maternity Assistant or Midwifery student practising in the UK
- If successful you must book onto an NBO course through the Brazelton website
- You must complete certification within 6 months of course date
- You must submit 3 short written reports about implementation of the NBO tool in your midwifery practice and be happy to be contact by the Brazelton Centre UK team for updates as we follow your NBO journey with the families in your care.
* The Brazelton Centre UK will cover the cost of the 2-day NBO course, all training kit and materials and all post-training support and certification. Totalling to £465. Any personal costs related to the training such as travel, or accommodation are NOT covered.
